Why Witch?

I often get “asked” (more like judged) for having the word Witch in my business name.  I will admit, it did make me angry to some point that I was being judged, but what did I expect? Throughout, history women have been persecuted for not playing their part according to the patriarch.  Healers, ancestral teachers, independent, and strong-willed women have all been accused of witchcraft based on fear, jealousy, and pure hatred.   This persecution does not stop today, although the label has dropped, replaced with crazy, difficult, whore, and the list goes on.

I do not label myself with a religion, as I find it a patriarchal joke to continue to control those that are different – race, gender, sexual affiliation, religion, etc. This does not imply that I am atheist or unspiritual. If you find comfort in organized religion, I will support you.  If you are an atheist, I support you. I support you, no matter what you believe. The support ends when you try to change me, change others from their beliefs.

I find spirituality is personal and should be held personally.  I believe in the universe, the angels, the spirit guides, just not according to the “rules” of organized religion.  I hold the phases of the moon sacred, the elements (Fire, Earth, Air and Water) as symbols of our lifecycles, and give thanks to Mother Gaia, my ancestors, and the goddesses of old.

I am a healer, an independent woman, a listener.

I will stand firm for your rights.

I hold space for you and your beliefs.

I embrace my truth and uniqueness.

I will empower you to be strong, to love yourself, and to speak your truth.

I am the witch.
