Studies have shown that how we think throughout the day impacts performance, our energy, interactions with others and self worth.
Let's test this concept with an example. If you walk into a room and there is a grumpy person in the center of the room spouting complaints.
They probably are not getting much done or doing it without passion or purpose because their mood is cruddy.
Their attitude is in the dirt and their energy is negative and dark.
That energy then fills the room and everyone starts feeling cruddy or at least it dims their happiness.
You are now feeling a little off. You take that home with you and it now rubs off on your family. They carry it and down the line in goes.
Dark negative energy creates a heaviness that becomes burdensome to carry and creates self doubt, anxiety, and misery, which leads us down a rabbit hole of bad behaviors like poor eating and sluggish energy.
There is nothing wrong with being upset, angry, and negative. These are all important emotions and there are lessons to be learned from them. The issues arise when you hold onto that energy and bake in it. Life is a balance - light and dark, positive and negative, good and bad. So how do we find balance?
Finding balance isn't a quick activity. It does take work because these are behaviors we have learned and now need to shift to new ones. Do not fret, I have easy solutions and tools for you.
I ground myself in the power of three. Here we need to Acknowledge, Reflect, and Release. What does that mean?
Acknowledge - We need to become aware when we are holding onto anger, sadness, and negativity. Remember - these are not "bad" and you need to feel these things. By acknowledging them in the moment, it allows us to recognize the energy, so we can move onto the next step.
Reflect - Once you have felt the negative energy, ask yourself:
why do you feel this way?
is the situation out of your control?
what message or lesson can you take from this for next time?
Release - Think of three positives that you came out of this situation. The first is always the easiest and the third is the hardest. It requires you to dive deep sometimes. By doing this, we are outweighing the heaviness of the negativity.
I hope this post has helped you understand the importance of positive thinking, as well as found some useful information on how to change the negative energy to positive energy.
I have created a Positivity Bracelet that guides you through the Acknowledge - Reflect - Release process easier.

This bracelet starts and ends with an eye bead creating a space for protection and insight
The gray bead represents the negative energy
Followed by three colored beads - these represent the process of identifying the three positives that came out of the situation. This activity can be hard the first few times, so here are some ideas on what to reflect on to get to your three.
What lessons did you learn?
What opportunities or ideas came from this situation?
What can you adjust in you life or thinking to be better prepared for next time?
